A specialist opportunity for an enthusiastic transformation professional to join a nationwide joint venture veterinary practice organisation based in Swindon.

The role will manage a team made up of Finance Process Owners and Business Analysts focused on the selection, development, deployment and maintenance of all finance systems ensuring complete and accurate accounting records for the Vet Group. The role requires specialist knowledge of Finance best practice to assist the formulation of the most effective Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) design solution that proactively supports our vision to build a finance function that is service oriented. To create one version of the truth in a clear, timely and controlled manner delivered through a transformation roadmap for the Vet Group. Reporting to the Director of Finance Transformation, the role will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Lead and influence modern finance technology decisions; driving discussions on design assurance with solution architects, system integrators and solution providers.Influence and develop a strategic technology road map for Finance with consideration of business process design, ERP integration, automation and deployment, infrastructure and interfaces into and from the finance systems, ensuring that all data is complete, transparent and reported accurately.
  • Lead the project delivery and vendor management of finance system, be it maintenance, upgrades or replacement, digitalisation (aligned to data strategy) and associated finance tools ensuring best practice is adopted.
  • Drive for standardisation of processes and procedures, re-engineer business processes as required with relevant Business stakeholder sign-off within agreed project timelines and budget.
  • Identify and manage any key risks around finance system transformation, in particular integration strategies and high level design around our technology landscape.
  • Partner with local finance leadership in order to support the rollout of the new target operating model.
  • Work with the System Integrators, Finance and Operational colleagues, System Architects, and other stakeholders including the Joint Venture Partners / Council to ensure that the Finance System provides a significant improvement in Finance Insight, Financial Control and Finance Efficiency for the Vet Group Finance team, demonstrated by KPI’s, SLA’s and project delivery within agreed timelines.
  • Support Finance and relevant stakeholders through the change; ensure relevant milestones and key decisions such as functional designs, user acceptance test plans, integration and data migration plans are signed-off by the relevant stakeholder, in a timely manner.
  • Coach, develop and motivate a team of Process Owners and Business Analysts alongside System integrators and IT professionals. Drive high levels of employee engagement, measure performance against their objectives, taking action where required.

     

Person Specification

Personal Attributes

  • This is a technical role; must be an ERP specialist, highly experienced in a similar role with experience of leading Process Owners. Finance orientated and likely to be a qualified accountant

  • Proven experience of implementing a suite of an Enterprise Roadmap; products and related tools (such as e-invoicing, reconciliation, consolidation and reporting tools) and demonstrate a deep understanding of the Finance architecture that supports Enterprise solutions such as Open Accounts or SAP in a medium to large company

  • Deep understanding of a multi organisation structure within an ERP, highly desirable.

  • Ability to articulate end to end best practice across Finance products with experience of managing Process Owners

  • Experience of digitalising the Finance customer experience is highly desirable

  • Experience of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is desirable

  • Excellent communicator, with both internal and external colleagues, at all levels, with the ability to communicate complex financial issues in a simple and easy to understand manner

  • Hard-working, efficient and motivated by results

  • Ability to analyse and make recommendations, alongside the capacity to drive through key business changes
